Recreational Therapist

Position SummaryAs a Recreational Therapist, you will work closely with the Director of Therapy and an interdisciplinary team to assess, develop, implement, and document therapeutic recreational-based programs designed to enhance, supplement and promote independence for clients with developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities include:
Implementing and monitoring the various programs in accordance with stated goals and objectives of client's individual service plan in both short term and long term living units.
Planning and implementing community integration experiences (CIEs) Supplementing and providing guidance to therapy assistants in day programming setting.
Salary InformationThe starting salary is between $25.
00 and $30.
00 per hour (approximately between $52,900 and $62,400 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits.
A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.
This position is classified as a Therapist and is in pay schedule and range 11/05.
Job DetailsAll applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy Must have a valid driver's license.
Minimum of two year's driving experience.
Must be 18 years of age of older.
Additionally, the driving record must not reflect the following conditions:
3 or more moving violations (with point reductions) and/or at fault accidents in the past 2 years.
An OWI or DUI violation within the past 12 months.
A suspension or revocation of the driver's license.
Recreational Therapists will be required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy to drive a state vehicle.
QualificationsMinimally qualified applicants will have both of the following A Bachelor's Degree in recreation therapy or a specialty area such as art, dance, music or physical education.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy to drive a state vehicle.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
Certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist Experience planning, implementing and/or coordinating therapeutic recreational therapy or art therapy programs.
Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Experience creating and documenting treatment goals and objectives.
